February 15, 2012 Meeting

“Drip Irrigation in Landscaping & Containers”

Our speaker  for our February 15, 2012 meeting was  Kathlyn Collins, owner of The Gardening Coach, which specializes in irrigation systems.  Her company website, thegardeningcoach.net, states that since 2001, Kathlyn has been helping gardeners find practical and creative solutions for their landscapes and gardens.  She also helps to take the “overwhelm” out of selecting and installing a drip system. During her presentation she taught us  that installing and maintaining a drip irrigation system is easy, economical and very do-able.

Everyone enjoyed Kathlyn's presentation and the delicious snacks.   Another great meeting!!!

Fall Banquet and Awards Presentations

Our Fall Banquet was held on October 19, 2011 and was a perfect time to award the trophies from our annual show.
It was a great way to end our dahlia season visiting with friends and enjoying Meirer's chicken along with the delicious food that everyone contributed.
It was another great year for Dahlias in the Salt Lake area.  We got off to a rough start with our cold and very wet spring but our dahlias exceeded our expectations.
Thanks to Megan Badger once again for all she does and all our members for making us one of the most successful garden clubs in Utah.

Maxine Clark is presented her trophy by Nick Spencer.

Nick Spencer won People's Choice Award.  Mark Hurst presented him with his trophy.

Megan Badger is a regular at the winning table.

Dave Ross was presented his trophy by Nick Spencer

Karen Crook is presented with the Best of Show vase for the coming year.
Congratulations once again to all our winners!

SHOW TIME!

Summer Social 2011

Megan Badger was our host for our
Utah Dahlia Society Summer Social
held on August 17th.
We all enjoyed the prizes she collected to be won on a spinning wheel and the ice cream bars she served.

Prizes with all ages in mind could be won with a spin of a wheel.

We each took a turn to brag about our successes and complain about our failures.

Dick Taylor won a special watering can and helps to show off some of our early blooms.

Karen Crook loves to mix up the blooms in her garden.
